THE BROTHERS…
The brothers have worked together to accomplish their goals and had a desire to be in construction from a very early age. Even as kids, at 4 years old they removed half of the Interior door knobs in their parents’ house before their mother realized what they were doing. By five years old they graduated to painting their parents’ kitchen cabinet doors. They later built on those experiences, forming a residential painting business during their high school and college years around their baseball schedule.
With the desire to take on new and challenging tasks, the brothers’ found themselves tackling full home remodels. The nature of remodeling provided them with the necessary hands on experience to handle any problem. Soon after college, they joined forces with a prestigious mountain top development and later moved on to focus all of their efforts on providing quality homes to the Chattanooga area.
The Bond – What it’s like working alongside your twin
It is a lot of fun having a twin. Aside from the entertainment that comes from watching other people’s confusion on a daily basis, we have always had someone you could count on for anything. We have always been each other’s biggest critic and biggest fan. You always want the other to succeed because everyone else is likely to think it was you. Our dad always told us that no matter how hard you work or how good you are, there is always someone working harder to be better than you. We never had to look further than our brother to find that person. At every aspect of life, one of us was going to beat the other, but our competitive nature was never going to let the other win, so naturally we each had someone constantly driving the other to do better and push harder 24/7. As soon as we woke up in the morning, we had someone of equal ability and drive to play ball with, wrestle with, and compete with in every way. We could always make bigger messes and do bigger things because there were two of us working at it.
We are Indeed similar in almost every way. We have the same goals in life and we are not really sure where that came from. Our parents never intentionally pushed us to do the same or different things, we just always naturally moved in the same direction. In business, we both considered ourselves the boss. However, over time we have both come to realize that our wives are the bosses.
Surprisingly, we do not have many differences. We have always had a close relationship. We shared a vehicle through high school, were roommates in college, played second base and shortstop alongside each other, and have actually never lived more than 8 miles from one another. Most of our experiences in life have been the same, but we do have different opinions and methods of achieving our goals.
Being that we are twins, the constant competition has driven us to be creative In finding solutions to problems In life, and that coupled with the fact that we still always have the same end goals In mind, creates In each of us a desire to find and accept new and bigger challenges that make life fun.
How we got to where we are now: After high school, we each could have gone separate directions with opportunities in sports but per our usual, God led us to take the same path. We did take job opportunities in different fields for several years after college, but still never gave up working together on the side, and eventually a good friend ended up bringing us together under him, to work in the same company. Our relationship with the Lord and willingness to follow the path He set before us, is ultimately what led us to working together. Taking a leap of faith and persevering through the hard times, knowing who was at the helm, has given us a work environment that neither of us would trade for anything.
Working with your bother – It’s like being in two places at once. Any decisions one makes on a job are most likely the
same decisions the other would have made. Of course we have disagreements at times but at the end of the day we both accept the fact that iron sharpens iron and we need those disagreements to constantly grow and better ourselves every day.
